Mrs. Mary Ethel McCants Asbury daughter of the late Jerry and Hattie Geather McCants was born October 21, 1925 in Conway, South Carolina. She departed this life on Monday morning, June 11, 2012 at 2:30 a.m. at Conway Medical Center.

Mary was raised in a loving Christian home and at an early age she accepted Christ. She was educated in the Cochran Community and joined the Greater St. James A.M.E. Church at an early age. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Jubilee Choir, Stewardess Board and faithful member of the Sunday School Department until her health began to decline.

 Mary was a housekeeper and was married to the late Mr. Willie Roy Asbury. To this union thirteen children were born.

 Six children, one sister and one brother preceded her in death.

 Mary leaves to cherish her memories three sons; Tommy (Chelvadean) Asbury, Charles Asbury of Conway, South Carolina and Rev. Willie (Minister Princess) Asbury of River Edge, New Jersey, four loving and devoted daughters; Vivian (Thomas) Bennett, Cora (Timothy) Watkins, Mary Jane Asbury (Donnie) of Conway, South Carolina and Janie Bell Jones of Galivants Ferry, South Carolina, one brother; Jerry (Dora) McCants of Conway, South Carolina, two sisters; Isabell Wolfe of Whitesboro, New Jersey and Sylvia (James) Conner of Burlington, New Jersey, one son-in-law; James Pope of Conway, South Carolina two brothers-in-law; Jimmy Asbury of Andersonville, Georgia, Dave (Minnie) Asbury of Detroit, Michigan, twenty-three grandchildren; (one grandson who cared for her daily), fifty-three great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren and a host of sorrowing  nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Asbury's Services are being directed by Rhue's Mortuary of Conway.
