I will have to give something to the Conway City Council, and it almost hurts me to say it but they showed some spunk Monday night. Even though Conway was being ripped by a massive sudden summer storm-complete with tornadoes- the council still carried on their meeting despite the awful weather. And, as a source confirmed, started on time! So, props to them, and now with the crow eating session over with, some news on Dixie Knitters
Mrs. Streeter presented her proposal to the council, which seemed open and friendly towards the idea claims a source. After the presentation the council wanted to know if she was asking permission for the projects listed and Mrs. Streeter replied that as of right now the knitters were only trying to familiarize the council will exactly what they were doing, and would come back for permission in the future.
The council said they were looking forward to it. See, isn’t government grand when everybody acts like they have some sense? Why a simple act of knitting needed this entire hubbub I don’t know but it is nice to know that when given respect and an intelligent challenge, the council will still rise to the occasion.
In other city council news, there is still no news on the Smoking ban. Some have begun to wonder if the issue will become a ghost and just quietly go away, while some wonder what’s around the corner.
I hope that the lesson everyone pulls away from the goings on between the business owners and city council in the last few months, is this: whether it be smoking a cigarette or knitting a sock for a tree, respect goes a long way for personal liberty.
What were your thoughts on both issues? Should the city have stayed out of it or was their involvement needed? Sound off!
*This Just In! The Dixie Knitters received a call today saying that the council has approved their knitting projects for a whole year!* One small step for knitting grannies, one giant hop for Conway.
