CONWAY POLICE INVESTIGATE FALSE ROBBERY
Conway, SC (March 16, 2012) – Conway Police have charged Albert Anderson, 30, of Conway with Grand Larceny in connection with a reported Armed Robbery. Anderson appeared before Judge Jane Mackey this morning and received a $5,000 surety bond on the charge.
On Wednesday, March 14, 2012, around 10:30 p.m., Conway Police officers were dispatched to 2900 Fourth Avenue (C&C Handi-Mart) in the city limits of Conway for a report of an armed robbery. Officers were in the area and arrived on scene in less than a minute of the call being dispatched. Once on scene, officers met with the store clerk’s husband (Anderson) who reported to police that that an unknown individual with a gun approached his vehicle and stole his wife's purse. Anderson stated that the purse contained two deposits from the store. He further stated he followed the suspect until he became aware that the subject had a gun. At which point, according to Anderson, he stopped, returned to his vehicle, retrieved his son, and fled inside the store, where his wife (store employee) was still located. According to Anderson, police were then contacted. Anderson told investigators that his wife placed the deposits inside her purse, and then gave the purse to him to hold as she was locking up. Anderson placed the purse inside the car just moments before the suspect ran up, grabbed the purse, and ran away.
Upon investigation it was determined that Anderson had conspired with another individual to stage an armed robbery and keep the monies.
